What is the Guy Fawkes event all about?
Guy Fawkes is known for his failed attempt to blow up Parliament in 1605 along side the Gunpowder Plot. He was arrested after he was found guarding explosives underneath the House of Lords. The people of London celebrated King James I’s survival form the attack on his life by lighting bonfires throughout the city. Today, primarily in England, Guy Fawkes night is commemorated with bonfires, fireworks, and the burning of an effigy of Fawkes.
In honor of tradition, Guy Fawkes night in Raleigh has fire…and a lot of it. From fire dancers, bonfires, fire breathers to our custom made Guy Fawkes fire statue, we are bringing the heat! Our one of a kind epic fire statue has a ring of fire surrounding the base and shoots out fire from the top throughout the night. All night long a variety of local fire performers will be spinning, breathing, and dancing with fire on the steps of the courthouse.
Huge epic statues shooting out balls of flames not really your thing? No worries, we’ll have sparklers too.
